DRIVER

Summary:

Drives a truck between mid to large size to pick up or deliver cargo within a local area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following (Other Duties May Be Assigned)

  • Operates a winch, hoist, tow motor or other equipment to unload or load truck.
  • Records travel and vehicle maintenance information in logs.
  • Prepares delivery statements, collects payment, or obtains receipts for goods picked up.
  • Complies with Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Performs general maintenance of vehicles and maintains cleanliness of vehicle.
  • Documents time accurately, and keeps within scheduled delivery dates.
  • Keeps apprised of safety regulations, and informs Shipping and Warehouse Supervisor should attention to any safety concern become necessary.
  • Must have ability to perform occasional long distance driving.

Lines of Communication:

This position reports directly to the Plant Superintendent, and Production Supervisor(s), Shipping and Warehouse Supervisor and Material Management Supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.

Experience and/or Education:

One year related experience and/or training or technical school certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Requires ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as job prints, safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Requires ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Requires ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Requires ability to apply concepts to basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability:

Requires ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must be apprised of safety regulations and have thorough familiarity of shop premises.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must possess a state issued, valid driver’s license and must undergo and pass routine drug and alcohol screening, and must pass insurability requirements.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Must be apprised of safety regulations and have thorough familiarity of shop premises especially regarding loading zones. Must be apprised of State-to-State Department of Transportation laws and requirements. Also must be honest and trustworthy with company proprietary information related to the business plans, customers, agents, affiliates, opportunities, products, processes, procedures, technology, designs and items in research and development and fully uphold the terms of company non-disclosure agreements.
